Lee & Associates’ Alex Popovich and Justin Ross facilitated the landmark transaction on behalf of AJ Capital (also known as ‘Adventurous Journeys’), a Nashville-based development and hospitality firm. Adventurous Journeys paid $8.1 million for 161 East Bay (the iconic, brick-covered Wagener Building), and an additional $4 million for the neighboring 40-space parking lot.
The property sits at the corner of East Bay Street and Queen Street, a distinct locale ripe with historic flair and significant consumer traffic. Nearby points of interest include The Vendue Hotel, Charleston Waterfront Park, The Cooper Hotel (under construction), and several fine-dining establishments.
